Wes

7 years old, Thoroughbred, son of a derby winner (Sunny's Halo). Spent a year or less on the track. Sweet guy,
seems very sane, competing in low jumps, good on trails. A good guy, probably decent all around but never
perfect at anything. " Bombproof." Has a very slight swan or "ewe" neck, but otherwise great conformation.

Smooth canter, but hard to hold to a trot. He wants to GO GO GO. Used to just galloping over jumps. He
would require two months of steady work to retrain him on flat work. Would I survive it? Hard to say; by the
end of riding him the second time, I was completely spent and a little disappointed by the frustration of trying
to get him to listen. He's got a super fast trot, and holding him back the whole time ("Ho...ho...ho...Dammit it,
Wes!") was tough. The trainer basically said he was "too much" for Jason (who agreed). And there's no video
of our final jump, which involved a canter, hurtling from the long spot, and then cantering happily (the horse)
out of control. Sigh. It was a great learning ride, though. I still like him, but he's just so strong. And expensive.

Priced at $8,500

Wes' owner on him at a show. You can see the slightly off neck; his topline needs strengthening, and he often lifts his head to avoid the bit..

... as you can see in this still from the video of me trotting him.
He's not on the bit at all. Pix of his owner on him were the same.
